Ubercart Installation Profile
People are often looking for an out of the box e-commerce solution for Drupal. Even with its features to help new users get up and running quickly, Ubercart still requires a bit of manual setup to get going.
To help alleviate this, we initially put together an installation profile for Drupal that handles module installation and simple configuration through the Drupal installer. This has since turned into the UberDrupal project that we will continue to develop along with the Ubercart community.
We recommend installing UberDrupal using Acquia Drupal and will distribute it as such through our site in the short term. We chose Acquia Drupal as the starting point, because it includes the required and recommended modules necessary for installing Ubercart and enabling its core image support.
Using the attached distribution is as simple as unpacking the archive into your www directory, setting up your database, and browsing to your site. You will be prompted during installation to use the Ubercart installation profile. If you add a few products and configure a payment solution, it is possible for orders to start rolling in within an hour.
Our packaged distribution is merely a launching point for you as you start selling online with Drupal. We do not intend to offer update packages but rather encourage you to administer and update the various modules on your site as necessary. Acquia Drupal updates are available through Acquia's downloads page and Ubercart updates are available through the Ubercart project page.
This work is far from complete and can use your feedback! Post your feature requests and bug reports to the UberDrupal issue tracker.
